Product Description
Hot rolled silico-manganese steel for engineering purposes including the manufacture of hot formed springs.

Normal mill edge flats (BS970 Pt.1), and special radius edge (R=T approx.) flats for springs (BS970 Pt.2).

Composition Properties
Silico-manganese spring steel grade 251A58 as specified in BS970 Part 2 1988 'Requirements for steels for the manufacture of hot formed springs'.

The steel is manufactured to fine grain steelmaking practice
(%Al .015-.045). Hardness 321 HB max.
The chemical composition is similar to BS970: EN45 and DIN
55Si7 (1.0904)

Size Range
Hot Mill 1 spring steel flats are available in most combinations from18mm up to 80mm wide by 4mm up to 13mm thick. Special profiles can be rolled within similar geometric limits.

Special tolerances and SPC analysis can be supplied by agreement.

Supply Condition
Bars are available in lengths up to 8.0 metres. Bar ends are cleanly sheared. Standard bundles are 2000 kg secured with tensioned bands. Smaller bundles available by agreement.

Ancillary Services
Re-shearing, cold straightening, pickling and oiling, special bundling and wrapping.
